Making changes to season tickets
You can change your season ticket after the first month. Have you changed? Then your season ticket will start within an hour. Very convenient if you want to take the train the same day.
How do I change my season ticket?
You change your season ticket via our webshop:
- Go to the webshop and select 'Change season ticket' at the top.
- Log in with your NS account.
- Select the season ticket you want to change in the yellow bar at the top of the page. For example, if you have multiple season tickets.
- Click the blue 'Change' button.
- Then select your new season ticket.
- Follow the steps and check your details.
- Confirm your change; you made a change.
When can I change?
- Do you have a season ticket that allows you to travel with a discount or unlimited? Then you can change it 1 month after your season ticket has started. For example: your season ticket started on 17 May. Then you have to wait until 17 June before you can change it. Are you waiting longer to change? Then you can change your season ticket at any time.
- Do you have NS Flex Basis? Then you can always change to another season ticket.
When does my change take effect?
You cannot change your season ticket for a later time. Your change always takes effect within an hour.
Are you changing from a season ticket on balance to a season ticket where you have to pay for your trips afterwards (NS Flex)? Then you still have to go to the NS ticket machine after your change to put the season ticket on your OV-chipkaart.
Change your season ticket and get a new OV-chipkaart
Read what happens when your OV-chipkaart is about to expire. You will often automatically receive a new one from us at home.
Is your OV-chipkaart lost, damaged or stolen? Block your card immediately and request a new one. You will receive it at home within 5 working days. Read via the link above how you can continue to travel in the meantime.

How can I add or remove extras for my season ticket?
I want to add extras when I change my season ticket
Do you want to change your season ticket to one with unlimited travel? For example Weekend Vrij, Dal Vrij, Traject Vrij or Altijd Vrij? Then you can add extras to your season ticket.
This is how you choose extras when you change your season ticket:
- Go to the webshop and select 'Change season ticket' at the top.
- Log in with your NS account.
- Select the season ticket you want to change in the yellow bar at the top of the page. For example, if you have multiple season tickets.
- Click the blue 'Change' button.
- Then select your new season ticket.
- On the 'This will be your order' page you can select your extras.
- Follow the steps and check your details.
- Confirm your change; you have changed with extras.
I only want to add or remove extras from my season ticket
Unfortunately, that is not possible. You can only add or remove extras if you change your entire season ticket.
Here's how:
- Go to the webshop and select 'Change season ticket' at the top.
- Log in with your NS account.
- Select the season ticket you want to change in the yellow bar at the top of the page. For example, if you have multiple season tickets.
- Click the blue 'Change' button.
- Then select the season ticket you currently have. So you are changing to the same season ticket.
- On the 'This will be your order' page, you can select your extras.
- Follow the steps and check your details.
- Confirm your change; you have changed with or without extras.

Can I combine my NS Flex subscription with other products?
You often cannot combine your NS Flex season ticket with other products on the same OV-chipkaart. This is because the gates and posts cannot see which product you want to travel with.
I would like Keuzedagen
You can only buy Keuzedagen with a Dal Voordeel on balance season ticket. Do you have a season ticket where you pay for your trips afterwards? Then you have an NS Flex season ticket. Change to Dal Voordeel on balance and choose Keuzedagen as an extra.I have a Student Travel Product
You cannot put an NS Flex season ticket on the same OV-chipkaart as your Student Travel Product. Request a new card for one of the two products.I have a bus, tram or metro season ticket
Ask our Customer Service to combine your season ticket with your NS Flex season ticket. Then you can travel with one OV-chipkaart.
