Refunds for a forgotten OV-chipkaart

If you paid too much for your journey because you forgot your OV-chipkaart or NS-Business Card, then you may request a refund for the extra amount.


OV-chipkaart

Were you unable to travel at a discount because you forgot your OV-chipkaart? Then ask for a refund of the extra costs incurred for your train journey with us. This also applies if you forgot your student travel product.

You can request a refund up to one month after the date of travel, with a maximum of three refund requests per calendar year. This only applies to journeys you made with us.

NS-Business Card

If you were unable to travel at a discount because you forgot your NS-Business Card, you can request a refund for any costs incurred that should have been covered by your season ticket.

You can request a refund up to 90 days after the date of travel, with a maximum of three refund requests per calendar year.

You've requested a refund, what happens next?

You will receive a confirmation of receipt by email within a couple of minutes. We will send you an email within four weeks to tell you whether you will be receiving a refund, and if so, how much. We will deposit this amount into the bank account number that you have provided.
